West Wimbledon - French - Waiting list - Progress Report

Our aim is to ensure children understand and learn to love the culture of France and to gain good
listening and speaking skills. We use lively role play, games, bingos, songs and activities to make
French culture both enjoyable and memorable.
It is a pleasure to teach your children and I hope they enjoy as much as we do. If you have specific

Topics covered this half term: Les vêtements, le pantalon, la jupe, la robe…(clothing: trousers, skirt,
dress…) Je met, j’enlève(I put on, I take off)…; Les directions: sur, sous, devant derrière, à gauche à
droite, en avant et en arrière(on, under, in front, behind, forward, backward, left and right) we
practiced how to walk following the instructions: marche en avant, en arrière, tourne à
gauche…(walk forward, walk backward, turn left…);Quelle heure est-il?(What time is it?) il est 2
heures(it’s 2 o’clock); qui mange qui? Qui mange quoi?(who eats who? Who eats what?) ex: le lion
mange le lapin, le lapin mange la carotte…(lion eats rabbit, rabbit eats carrot…); Les fruits: la cerise,
le raisin, L’abricot…(fruits: cherry, grape, apricot…) we played Bingo using fruits words, we also
learned to say j’aime, je n’aime pas(I like and I don’t like).The children are encouraged to use polite
words in French when the ask for something, ex: JE VOUDRAIS(I would like), S’IL VOUS PLAIT(please),
Merci… Each session we played games related to the subject of the day. This half term we learned
new actions and sentences while miming them: je grimpe(I climb), je glisse(I slide), je souffle(I blow)
the last ten minutes the children received and do an activity sheets with the same subject based on
their age.
For the rest of the term we will cover the following subjects:
--Garçon et fille/il et elle
-How to describe a person ex ella a des cheveux blonds bouclés, il a des cheveux noirs(she has blond
curly hair he has short black hair) etc…
-Qui est où?(who is where) qui est dans le ciel? Qui est dans l’eau? Qui est dans l’herbe?(who is in
the sky? who is in the water? Who is in the grass?)
-Que fais-tu àl’école? L’histoire, les sciences, la géographie, l’art…(what do you do in school? History,
sciences, geography, art…)
- Pâques en France(Easter in France)
