St Pauls Reception - French - Progress Report

Our aim is to ensure children understand and learn to love the culture of France and to gain good
listening and speaking skills. We use lively role play, games, bingos, songs and activities to make
French culture both enjoyable and memorable.
It is a pleasure to teach your children and I hope they enjoy as much as we do. If you have specific
questions, please see me after the club or send an email to
-Year 1 and Year 2: We always start our session with routine greetings Bonjour, Comment ça va(how
are you?) Ça va bien(I am fine) Comme ci comme ça(so so) Ça va mal(I feel bad)…We practiced
following subjects: Les vêtements, le pantalon, la jupe, following subjects: Les vêtements, le
pantalon, la jupe, . We practiced counting up to 30; we learned more colours: noir, blanc, gris(black,
white, grey); Les fruits: la pomme, la fraise, le raisin…(fruits: apple, strawberry, grape…); je mange la
pomme (I eat apple), j’aime la pomme ou je n’aime pas la pomme(I like apple or I don’t like apple);
we learned following actions by miming them: je nage, je joue le football, je cours, je ris, je lis…(I
swim, I play football, I run, I laugh, I read…), les jours de la semaine(days of the week); we played
Bingo using animals words: le serpant, le perroquet, le zèbre…(snake, parrot, zebra…)
For the rest ot the term we will do:
ADVANCED GROUP(YEAR ): Des endroits publics: le parc, le supermarché, l’école, l’hôpital…(public
places :park, supermarket, school, hospital…); Les directions: en haut et en bas (up and down); we
learned different vocabularies regarding foods and housholds such as: du pain, le grille pain, le
poisson, la poêle(bread, toaster, fish, pan…) and how to say I buy (J’achète); Où habites-tu?(where
do you live?) j’habite Londres(I live in London), j’habite une maison(I live in a house); Les
professions(jobs) le coiffeur, le pilote de ligne(airline pilot) le dentiste(dentist)…je voudrais être un
professeur (I would like to be a teacher).
For the rest of the term we will cover following subjects:
-Garçon et fille/il et elle
-How to describe a person ex: ella a des cheveux blonds bouclés, il a des cheveux noirs(she has blond
curly hair he has short black hair) etc…
-Qui est où?(who is where) qui est dans le ciel? Qui est dans l’eau? Qui est dans l’herbe?(who is in
the sky? who is in the water? Who is in the grass?)
-Dans mon cartable il ya…(in my book bag there are) le crayon, la gomme, une règle…(pencil, rubber,
-Pâques en France(Easter in France)
