CLUB MAPLE INFANT SPANISH

TERM SPRING 2020
Learning a language is a lifelong commitment.
Our aim is to ensure children understand and learn to love the Spanish language and to gain good listening and
speaking skills. We use lively role play, games, bingos, songs and activities to make the Spanish culture both
enjoyable and memorable.
It is a pleasure to teach your children and I hope they enjoy as much as we do. If you have specific questions,

TOPICS COVERED THIS TERM
We started the term practicing the traditional greetings “Hola,¿ Cómo estás? (Hello, how are you? ), and they
would answer “Muy bien gracias, y tú?” (I am very well thank you, and you?) (Reception) and asking our age
“¿Cuántos años tienes? (how old are you?) Tengo 5 años (I am 5 years old)”( Y1 and Y2).
We reviewed Los números (numbers) 1 to 10 (reception) up to 15 (Y1 and Y2) , “Los colores” (the colours )
azul claro (light blue), azul oscuro (dark blue), rojo (red), amarillo (yellow), verde (green), naranja (orange),
blanco (white), negro (black), marrón (brown), gris (grey) and rosa (pink).
RECEPION.-We have been learning medios de transporte (means of transport) ¿Cómo voy a la escuela? (How I
get to school?) a pie (walking), en bicicleta ( by bike), en coche (by car). Voy de vacaciones en… ( I am going on
holidays by...) tren, avión, barco (train, airplane, boat).
Also we have been learning ‘Criaturas del mar‘ : ballena (whale),tiburón (shark), pez (fish), cangrejo (crab), pulpo
(octopus), and sirena (mermaid).

YEAR 1 and 2
We have been learning about animals in the jungle (los animales de la jungla) serpiente (snake), mono
(monkey), tigre (tiger), loro (parrot), elefante (elephant), cocodrilo (crocodile) and león (lion).
Also we learnt about things that we can see in “la ciudad” (the city) like carros, autobuses, semáforos, edificios
y tiendas (cars, buses,traffic lights, buildings and shops) and in “el campo” (the countryside) like árboles,
flores, pollos, ovejas (trees, flowers, chickens, sheeps). Children listened the story of two snails (caracoles)
Pepe , who lives en el campo and Hugo, who lives en la ciudad.
FOR THE REST OF THE TERM :
RECEPTION.-We will learn útiles escolares (school supplies), mochila, libro, lápiz, boli, borra, regla, (backpack,
book, pencil, pen, rubber, ruler) as well as chico, chica (boy, girl).
And actions we can do ‘Acciones’ : como (I eat), bebo (I drink), ando (I walk), duermo (I sleep) and lloro (I cry).
YEAR 1 and 2
We will learn about “Estaciones del año” (seasons) Primavera (spring), Verano (summer), Otoño (autumn) and
Invierno (winter). Also “el clima” (the weather): Hace frio (it is cold), Hace calor (it is hot), Hace viento (it is
windy) and Hace buen tiempo ( good weather).

We will celebrate Mother´s day and we will talk about Easter and ‘Las Procesiones’ in Spain.
