Alexandra French - Progress Report


Our aim is to ensure children understand and learn to love the culture of France and to gain good
listening and speaking skills. We use lively role play, games, bingos, songs and activities to make
French culture both enjoyable and memorable.
It is a pleasure to teach your children and I hope they enjoy as much as we do. If you have specific

. We always start our session with routine greetings: Bonjour, comment ça va?(how are you?) ça va
bien(I am fine) Comme ci comme ça(so so) Ça va mal(I am not good). Quel jour sommes nous?(which
day is today?), asking older children quell temps fait-il aujourd’hui? (how is the weather today?)
Topics covered this term: Les vêtements, le pantalon, la jupe, la robe…(clothing: trousers, skirt,
dress…) je met et j’enlève( I put on and I take off); Les directions: sur, sous, devant derrière, à
gauche à droite, en avant et en arrière(on, under, in front, behind, forward, backward, left and
right); je porte, je mets and j”enlève(I wear, I put on and I take off) we dressed up the animals by
learning to say for ex: la vache porte une robe! (the cow wears a dress!) we played action game by
miming je met une jupe/j’enlève une jupe( I puton a skirt/I take the skirt off); ?Qui mange qui et qui
mange quoi?(who eats who and who eats what?) ex: le tigre mange le lapin, le lapin mange la
carrote(tiger eats rabbit, rabbit eats carrot);Qui est plus fort?(who is stronger) ex: le tigre et le lapin:
le tigre est plus fort(tiger and rabbit: tiger is stronger) While playing miming game we learned: je
glisse, je grimpe, je souffle(I slide, I climb, I blow) and je fais du ski(I ski). We practiced counting to
40. We repeat days of the week and months of the year and the children said their birthday’s date in
