TERM SPRING 2018

FIRST HALF TERM – reception and year 1 beguinners
TOPIC THEMES – Les Vêtements (clothes), Les Couleurs (colours), Le Corps (body)
VOCABULARY – So far this term we have been learning the following clothes: des chaussures (shoes), des chaussettes (socks), une robe (dress), un pull (jumper), un tee-shirt, une jupe (skirt), un pantalon (trousers), un short (shorts), un chapeau (hat), une écharpe (scarf), un manteau (coat). We have also been using the clothes to practise the following colours – rouge (red), bleu (blue), jaune (yellow), vert (green), violet (purple), orange, rose (pink), gris (grey), marron (brown), blanc (white), noir (black). We are currently learning the parts of the body: la tête (head), les cheveux (hair), les yeux (eyes), le nez (nose), les oreilles (ears), la bouche (mouth), les mains (hands), les pieds (feet), les bras (arms), les jambes (legs), le ventre (stomach), les epaules (shoulders).

TOPIC THEMES – La Famille, La Sandwich, Les Boissons (Drinks)
VOCABULARY – For the rest of term we shall learn the members of the family – la grand-mère (grandma), le grand-père (grandpa), la mère (mum), le père (dad), le frère (brother), la sœur (sister), le bébé (baby) and cover Mother’s Day and discuss the way the festival is celebrated in France. Next we shall move onto food and drink starting with the following items of food: le jambon (ham), la fromage (cheese), le pain (bread), du beurre (butter), la salade (lettuce), la tomate (tomato), la baguette, followed by the following drinks: un coca (coca-cola), une limonade (lemonade), un jus d’orange (orange juice), un thé (tea), un café (coffee), un chocolat chaud (hot chocolate), du lait (milk), de l’eau minerale (water). We shall be practising the verbs je mange (I eat) and je bois (I drink).

FIRST HALF TERM – Carine’s group intermediates year 2s
TOPIC THEMES – Shapes, Comparaisons, Transport
VOCABULARY – Each lesson we practice greetings and basic polite words, we revise numbers and colours and key presentation questions/answers (basic vocabulary). We have looked at different shapes and associated them with colours, then transport and directions.
Les formes: le triangle, le cercle, carré, le rectangle, le lozange, l’étoile (shapes :triangle, circle, square, rectangle, diamond, star) le cercle rouge, le lozange vert (red cercle, green diamond) Les transports :la bicyclette/le vélo, le train, l’avion, la moto, la voiture, le bateau, la fusée(transports : bicycle/bike, train, plane, motobike, car, boat, rocket)
Year3-6 have also looked at comparison: plus …que = more… than
L’avion est plus rapide que le bateau/ La bicyclette est plus lente que le train (the plane is more rapid than the boat/ the bicycle is slower than the train)

VOCABULARY
Sur/sous (on/under), devant/derrière ((in front/behind), à droite/à gauche (right/left), en avant/an arrière(forwards/backwards)
Le short, le pantalon, la jupe, le maillot, la chemise, les chaussures, les chaussettes, le manteau, l’écharpe, le pull-over.(shorts, trousers, skirt, T-shirt, shirt, shoes, socks, coat, scarf, jumper)
J’aime/ je n’aime pas (I like /I dislike) and also j’adore/je déteste (I love/I hate) with comparison: J’aime plus le pantalon vert que la jupe verte (I like more the green trousers than the green skirt) Je préfère la jupe bleue! (I prefer the blue dress)
FESTIVALS: Epiphanie, La Saint Valentin, la fête des mères, (mother’s day). Pâques (Easter)
