Learning a language is a lifelong commitment.
Our aim is to ensure children understand and learn to love the culture of France primarily and to gain good listening and speaking skills which will hold them in good stead for the rest of their life.
French cultural festivals are introduced through lively role play, games, bingos, songs and activities to make them enjoyable and memorable.

FIRST HALF TERM
TOPIC THEMES and VOCABULARY - SALUTATIONS (bonjour, salut ..), GEOGRAPHIE (France, Angleterre, Espagne, Allemagne, je suis anglais(e), français(e)), JE M’APPELLE (my name is), QUEL AGE AS TU? (how old are you), JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE (happy birthday), COULEURS (jaune, rouge, bleu, blanc, vert, noir, rose, violet).
GAMES: Chinese whispers, matching game, role play, 4 corners.
FOR THE REST OF THE TERM WE WILL COVER
TOPIC THEMES : More colours, COMMENT ÇA VA? (how are you?) LES CHIFFRES (numbers), LES MOIS (the months), QUEL TEMPS FAIT IL? (the weather).

Our aim is to ensure children understand and learn to love the culture of France and to gain good listening and speaking skills. We use lively role play, games, bingos, songs and activities to make French culture both enjoyable and memorable.

SUBJECTS COVERED THIS TERM:
We had a great start and all the children participate in games and activities with a great enthusiasm. We began each session with the basic greetings: “bonjour comment ça va “ (hello, how are you)”ça va bien”(I am fine) “comme çi comme ça”(not to bad)”ça va mal”(I am bad); “quell âge as-tu?”(how old are your).
WITH YOUNGER CHILDREN: we played games to learn how to count and they are able to count up to 15. We practiced the colours: bleu, rouge, violet, marron…(blue, red, purple, brown…) and “le visage”(the face) ex: “les yeux”, “le nez”…(eyes. Nose…), “le corps”(the body): “les épauls”, “les genoux”…(shoulders, knees…): je bois et je mange (I drink and I eat).
FOR THE REST OF THE TERM WE WILL COVER FOLLOWING SUBJECTS:
“les animaux de la ferme”(farm animals); “les animaux de la forêt”(jungle animals); “les animaux se déguisent”(animals dress up), “les formes” and “la fête de Noël et le Nouvel An”(Christmas and New Year).
WITH YEAR 4+: we have learned “Les jours de la semaine et les mois”(days of the week and months); “describing someone’s face”: les cheveux blonds, les yeux bleus…(blond hair, blue eyes…); “Les endroits”(places)le parc, le cinema…;”Le temps qu’il fait”(the weather) il fait chaud et il fait froid (it’s warm and it’s cold), we also played some board games to learn vocabularies. We learned short sentences in French ex: “c’est toi?”, “ouis c’est moi”, “non ce n’est pas moi” (is that you?, yes it’s me and no it is not me) et “je mange” “je bois”(I eat, I drink).
FOT THE REST OF THE TERME WE WILL DO:
“Quelle heure est-il?:(what time is it): “Les professions”(jobs); “Les transports publics”(public transports); “Les directions”(directions) et “la fête de Noël et le Nouvel An”.
