TERM SPRING 2018

FIRST HALF TERM

TOPIC THEMES – Los Animales De Compañia (Pets), Los Animales De La Granja (Farm Animals), Los Animales Salvajes (Wild Animals)

VOCABULARY – For the first half of term we have been learning the animals, starting with the following household pets: el perro (dog), el gato (cat), el conejo (rabbit), el pez de colores (goldfish), el hamstér (hamster), el ratón (mouse). Next we learnt some farm animals: el caballo (horse), el cerdo (pig), la gallina (hen), los pollitos (chicks), el pato (duck), la oveja (sheep), la vaca (cow). We have also learnt the following wild animals: el lion (lion), el tigre (tiger), el mono (monkey), el cebra (zebra), el serpiente (snake), la girafa (giraffe), el loro (parrot), el elefante (elephant), el cocodrilo (crocodile), el lobo (wolf). We have also been doing some work on telling the time whilst playing ‘¿Qué hora es, Señor Lobo?’ (What’s the time, Mr Wolf?) e.g. ‘¡Es la una!… ¡Son las dos!…’ (it’s 1 o’clock! … it’s 2 o’clock! …)

FOR THE REST OF THE TERM WE WILL COVER

TOPIC THEMES – El Cuerpo (body), Las Frutas (fruits), Los Numeros 20 - 30

VOCABULARY – For the rest of the term we will be learning the parts of the body – la cara (the face): los ojos (eyes), la nariz (nose), la boca (mouth), las orejas (ears) and el cuerpo (body): la cabeza (head), las manos (hands), los brazos (arms), las piernas (legs), los pies (feet), los hombros (shoulders), las rodillas (knees) el vientro (stomach). We will then learn the fruits: la naranja (orange), la manzana (apple), las uvas (grapes), el platano (banana), la pera (pear), la piña (pineapple), el cereza (cherry), la fresa (strawberry), el albaricoque (apricot). We will also be practising counting from 20 – 30 now that the children are more confident with their numbers!

FIRST HALF TERM

TOPIC THEMES – La Ropa (clothes), La Comida (Food)

VOCABULARY – The new starters have settled in really well this term. This term the reception and year 1 children have been learning the colours – ‘rojo’ (red), ‘azul’ (blue), ‘verde’ (green), ‘amarillo’ (yellow), ‘blanco’ (white), ‘rosa’ (pink), ‘morado’ (purple), ‘naranja’ (orange), ‘negro’ (black) and how to count to 12. We have also learnt some foods – ‘el bocadillo’ (sandwich), ‘el tomate’ (tomato), ‘el pan’ (bread), ‘la lechuga’ (lettuce), ‘el queso’ (cheese), ‘el jamón’ (ham). Years 2 – 4 have been learning the following items of clothing – ‘el vestido’ (dress), ‘el abrigo’ (coat), ‘la bufanda’ (scarf), ‘la falda’ (scarf), ‘los calcetines’ (socks), ‘los zapatos’ (shoes), ‘los pantalones’ (trousers), ‘los pantalones cortos’ (shorts), ‘la camisa’ (shirt), ‘la camiseta’ (t-shirt), ‘el sombrero’ (hat). We have also been practicing the phrases ‘me pongo’ (I put on…) and ‘se pone’ (he/she puts on…)

FOR THE REST OF THE TERM WE WILL COVER

TOPIC THEMES – Comida y bebidas (Food and Drinks), El Desayuno (Breakfast), La Familia

VOCABULARY – For the rest of term, the receptions and year 1s will continue to learn the numbers up to 20 and years 2 – 4 will revise numbers 1 - 30. We will also continue learning different food and drinks – ‘el chocolate’, ‘la coca-cola’, ‘la limonada’ (lemonade), ‘el agua mineral’ (water), ‘la hamburguesa’ (hamburger), ‘la mantequilla’ (butter), ‘el azúcar’ (sugar), ‘los caramelos’ (sweets), ‘las galletas’ (biscuits), ‘el helado’ (ice cream), ‘la leche’ (milk), ‘el pastél’ (cake), ‘la manzana’ (apple), ‘la naranja’ (orange), ‘el limón’ (lemon). Years 2 – 4 will also be learning breakfast food and drinks such as ‘el té’ (tea), ‘el café (coffee), ‘un chocolate’ (hot chocolate), ‘un zumo de naranja’ (orange juice), ‘una tostada’ (toast), ‘los cereales’ (cereal) and will also be learning the following phrases – ‘yo como/yo bebo’ (I am eating/drinking), ‘me gustaría’ (I would like), ‘tengo hambre’ (I am hungry) and ‘tengo sed’ (I am thirsty), ‘tengo frío’ (I am cold) and ‘tengo calor’ (I am hot) ‘me gusta/no me gusta’ (I like/I do not like…) Next we will learn the members of the family – ‘la mama’, ‘el papa’, ‘el hermano’ (brother), ‘la hermana’ (sister), ‘el abuelo/la abuela’ (grandpa/grandma). In addition to this, years 2 – 4 will be learning – ‘el tío/la tía’ (uncle/aunt), ‘el primo/la prima’ (cousin), ‘el sobrino/la sobrina’ (nephew/niece).
